Activated Charcoal

Faria Wholefoods Activated Charcoal is a fine black powder made from 100% activated charcoal, a highly porous form of carbon with little to no flavour. It is used in filtration and, when food-grade, as a natural black colouring ingredient.

How to Use

• If certified food-grade, use only small amounts.
• May be added in small quantities to suitable foods or drinks as a colouring ingredient.
• Do not use at home to treat suspected poisoning or overdose. Contact a poison information centre or seek urgent medical attention.
• Do not take close to oral medicines or supplements without professional advice, as it may reduce their absorption.

Please Note

• Activated charcoal has not been proven to “detox” the body, and there is insufficient evidence for routine use for weight loss, cholesterol, bloating, digestion, teeth whitening or hangovers.
• It can interfere with many oral medicines and supplements.
• Possible side effects include black stools, constipation, nausea and vomiting.
• Only food-grade activated charcoal should be consumed. Barbecue charcoal and briquettes must never be eaten.
• Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, people with gastrointestinal conditions and anyone on regular medication should seek professional advice before regular use.
